Associate Attorney
About The Role
DPMC is seeking an accomplished litigator to join the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate should be skilled at handling cases from inception through resolution. This role involves managing a diverse caseload and delivering strategic advice to clients. Candidates will support numerous governmental entities and private clients in the state of California.

As litigators, you can expect a short two-minute walk to the San Diego Courthouse from our headquarters. Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and execute case strategies, including risk assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Work closely with clients to provide clear legal advice, case assessments, and updates on case developments
- Support all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement negotiations
- Collaborate with expert witnesses, including medical, forensic, engineering, and economic experts, to strengthen case arguments
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in California
- 2-7 years litigation experience, public agency experience preferred (not required)
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize a large, demanding caseload with limited oversight
- Exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills
- Strong client relationship management skills with an ability to communicate complex legal strategies effectively
- Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software
Low Hourly Requirement
1,600 annual billable hours; inquire about quarterly bonus incentives for exceeding billable hours requirements.
Pay Range
$110,000—$145,000 USD
Accounting Assistant
About the Role
DPMC is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our downtown San Diego office. This position is responsible for day-to-day tasks related to accounting operations, including accounts payable, billing/accounts receivable, general ledger, financial record-keeping, and collections. The Accounting Assistant will be tasked with daily office administration, problem-solving, and addressing issues raised by attorneys and staff. S/he/they will work closely with the firm’s Administrator/Comptroller.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handle billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accounting management and reports
- Handle firms’ collections of primarily successful public agency and private clients
- Collaborate with the Administrator/Controller to develop and present comprehensive, timely financial analyses/reports for firm Partners
- Oversee the firm’s matter opening, closing, and conflict processes
- Collaborate with the Administrator/Controller to establish, monitor, and implement financial policies and procedures
- Support payroll processing and related accounting journal entries
- Implement internal control processes over all accounting functions
- Implement the year-end close of books and all related compliance reporting (1099s, W9s, etc.)
- Manage utilization of accounting and billing software platforms
- Work with the Administrator/Controller to prepare the annual financial budget and update monthly reports tracking said budgets
- Work with the Administrator/Controller on the management of benefits open enrollment and daily interactions with carriers and employees, and conduct/audit monthly of benefit tracking
- Drive forward-thinking process improvement within the firm
- Various other projects as assigned by the firm’s Administrator/Controller or Equity Partner Management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration (preferred)
- Billing experience in a law firm setting (preferred) or professional services industry
- Working knowledge of accounting practices, procedures, and best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Excellent computer skills with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and accounting software required (ProLaw and QuickBooks preferred)
Pay Range
$65,000—$95,000 USD. Salary commensurate on experience.
