About The Role

DPMC is seeking an accomplished litigator to join the firm’s Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate should be skilled at handling cases from inception through resolution. This role involves managing a diverse caseload and delivering strategic advice to clients. Candidates will support numerous governmental entities and private clients in the state of California.

Location: Hybrid

At DPMC, we offer a hybrid work environment. Expect to thrive with in-person mentorship and training provided by the industry’s most reputable Public Agency attorneys. As litigators, you can expect a short two-minute walk to the San Diego Courthouse from our headquarters. You also have the option to work out of our Temecula office located in the historic Burke Building. Work-from-home flexibility is also available to support work-life balance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute case strategies, including risk assessment, discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Work closely with clients to provide clear legal advice, case assessments, and updates on case developments
  • Support all stages of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, pre-trial motions, and settlement negotiations
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses, including medical, forensic, engineering, and economic experts, to strengthen case arguments

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in California
  • 2-7 years litigation experience, public agency experience preferred (not required)
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritize a large, demanding caseload with limited oversight
  • Exceptional oral advocacy, legal writing, and negotiation skills
  • Strong client relationship management skills with an ability to communicate complex legal strategies effectively
  • Experience with e-discovery tools and case management software

Low Hourly Requirement

1,600 annual billable hours; inquire about quarterly bonus incentives for exceeding billable hours requirements.

Pay Range

$110,000—$145,000 USD
